SMC was implemented from July to November for children aged three months to five years and delivered in sixty-seven districts in Niger in 2022. The intervention is implemented in four cycles in some districts while others implement five cycles. At the end of three cycles, coverage levels of 104-105% had been achieved. This, however, dropped to 84% on the fourth cycle.

The project aims to analyze district level malaria morbidity data for the past five years covering the different epidemiological areas in country transmission settings to explore age specific trends in order to evaluate the impact of SMC on malaria morbidity and mortality and to assess whether SMC would be suitable for older children, aged 5 to 10 years of age.

Data collection and data entry are currently ongoing.
