Togo adopted the policy and started implementing SMC in 2013. In 2022, Togo implemented SMC from the 1st of July and finished on the 4th of October. Four cycles of SMC were administered in 19 districts and coverage rates of 92.1% were achieved.

The project aims to assess the impact of SMC on confirmed malaria cases and malaria-related deaths in children under 5 years of age in the Central, Kara and Savannah regions of Togo. This data will also be used to define optimal SMC strategies in terms of timing, number of cycles, and age ranges at risk of severe malaria.

Data collection and data entry are currently ongoing.
